Health Services Management Concentration

Management A.A.S. 

 

 Business and Information Technologies Division 

Associate of Applied Science Degree

This concentration prepares qualified students for supervisory and/or management positions in the health care industry.

To qualify for admission to this program, students must present proof of Education: 1) completion of an accredited clinically-based health program consisting of a minimum of 24 semester credit hours OR 2) a diploma from a Tennessee Technology Center requiring at least 1,290 clock hours in a clinically-based health program AND current registration/certification/licensure/credentials from 1) the State of Tennessee, OR 2) the regulating authority in another state OR 3) a national credentialing authority (if applicable).

Students who are interested in careers in the health care industry but lack this requirement should pursue the General Management concentration.

Career Opportunities

Medical office manager, dental office manager, supervisory or management positions in the health care field.

***These hours count toward the degree but carry no quality points, do not count in calculation of the grade point average, and may not be used toward satisfaction of the graduation residency requirements for the A.A.S. degree. If the alternate credit is earned at Chattanooga State Community College and/or is part of student’s academic transcript, the equivalent number of hours will be waived.

Regardless of the criteria used for admission, documentation must be provided at the time of admission.  Applicants must meet all admission requirements for degree seeking status and remove Transitional Studies deficiencies, if any.  Students accepted into this program will receive 24 hours of advanced placement upon the successful completion of  all transitional studies requirements and 15 hours of college level credit with a GPA of 2.00 or above.
