Cyber Defense Concentration


Computer Information Technology A.A.S. 

Engineering and Information Technologies Division

This concentration provides students a foundation in programming and networking, essential skills needed to identify vulnerabilities and fortify computer systems in order to prevent cyber security breaches. Courses such as digital forensics and penetration testing teach the latest techniques and tools in this dynamic career field. Strong critical thinking skills are developed in a hands-on lab environment along with real world internship experiences.

Career Opportunities

Graduates can find career opportunities as information systems security specialists, operating systems security specialists, applications security specialists, and information assurance security specialists. Career opportunities may be found in the healthcare, financial services and insurance industries, as well as in education.

Employment Demand:  Over 590,000 cyber-related positions (www.cyberseek.org). National average for cyber security professionals with 5-8 years’ experience: $99,000. Employment demands over the next 5 years expected to grow between 22-24% per year. (2021)
