DH 255 - Dental Hygiene Pain Management

This course is designed to prepare dental hygiene students to safely and competently administer local anesthetic agents and nitrous oxide sedation to control dental related pain with a minimum of patient discomfort. Included are content areas in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and emergency management as they relate to the administration of local anesthetics, nitrous oxide, and pain control. Laboratory sessions are structured to develop actual experiences in administration of local anesthetics and nitrous oxide.
