Note: Fundamentals of Music is not reflected in the Total Hours.

*Fundamentals of Music serves as an introductory course to Music Theory I (these credits will not count toward graduation and will not transfer to the four-year institution). Students will take a Fundamentals of Music placement test at the beginning of their first semester, and those who score high enough will have the option to take Music Theory I without Fundamentals.

**Students that plan to transfer to The University of Memphis should complete an approved General Education course in literature rather than Introduction to Music. The literature course cannot be taken until after Composition II has been completed.

***Students must successfully complete placement requirements in music theory, ear training, and piano at the University where transfer is planned (see the ChSCC Music Student Handbook for further details). It is recommended that students take Piano Instruction even after they have completed their Piano sequence.

Students should complete the Sophomore Platform prior to or during their last semester (see the ChSCC Music Student Handbook for further details). This will help prepare students for the audition required by the music department of the university they choose to attend.
