Associate of Applied Science Degree Accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care

The Respiratory Care program at Chattanooga State is the oldest accrediated A.A.S degree program in the nation preparing students to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). The program is two years (five semesters) long. Training involves a combination of classroom, laboratory and clinical practice at several hospitals in the region. After completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) exams to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and then a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). After passing the NBRC exams, graduates will meet the requirements to apply for a license in the state of Tennessee. Other states have similar requirements.
