Summary of Required Hours - Traditional Pathway
Students may become eligible for the A.A.S. in Dental Assisting by completing the following summary of required hours: DAST courses* 36 hours ENGL 1010 3 hours Humanities/Fine Arts 3 hours PSYC 1030 3 hours BIOL 2010 4 hours BIOL 2020 4 hours HIMT 1300 3 hours MATH 1010 or higher 3 hours TOTAL 62 hours (increase from 60) Summary of Required Hours - Advanced Placement Pathway

*Advanced placement credit of 36 semester hours may be awarded to dental assistants who have current state or national certification or registration as a result of graduation from a program that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. * Hours earned as a result of current state or national certification or registration as a result of graduation from an American Dental Association Accredited Certificate program in Dental Assisting will count toward the degree but carry no quality points, do not count in calculation of the grade point average, and may not be used toward satisfaction of the graduation residency requirements for the A.A.S. degree.
