HIST 2060 - African American History

(3 Credit Hours)
This course will examine the history of Africans and their descendants in the United States from the development of the trans-Atlantic slave trade to the present. It will investigate topics ranging from the Middle Passage, plantation slavery, emancipation, the Harlem Renaissance, African Americans during the Great Depression, the Cold War, and the ongoing struggle for Civil Rights. By investigating, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating primary and secondary sources, students will learn why African American History is fundamental to understanding United States History.
