06:59:01 Confidentiality Policy
- The purpose of the Confidentiality Policy is to ensure that all faculty, staff, and volunteers understand the Chattanooga State Community College (College) requirements in relation to the disclosure of personal data and confidential information.
- For the purpose of this policy, confidentiality relates to the transmission of personal, sensitive or identifiable information about individuals or organizations (confidential information), which comes into the possession of the College through its work.
- The College holds personal data about its faculty, staff, students, etc. which will only be used for the purposes for which it was gathered and will not be disclosed to anyone outside of the College without prior permission.
- All personal data will be dealt with sensitively and in the strictest confidence internally and externally.
- The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable federal and state laws require the College to protect the privacy of certain personal health information, financial records, educational records and personal customer information.It is the intent of the College to comply with all applicable provisions of these laws.
- Employees shall abide by and follow all College Policies, Procedures/Guidelines and workplace rules regarding the safeguarding of such information and shall take all necessary and required measures to otherwise protect private information created, collected, maintained, transmitted or stored by or for the College.
- Individuals who believe their privacy rights have been violated may file a complaint with the:
