  1. Educational assistance in the form of fee waivers and reimbursements is offered by the Tennessee Board of Regents to aid employees seeking advanced educational opportunities. The College encourages faculty and staff to participate in these professional and personal pursuits. A monetary reward may be available to those who earn an advanced degree and meet the following criteria:

    1. The degree must be higher than the current degree.
    2. The degree must be relevant to the position held as verified by the Director of Human Resources and approved by the employee’s supervisor, Vice President, and the College President, effective July 1, 1998.
    3. The degree must be from a SACS-accredited institution. If the degree is received through another accrediting institution, an exception must be requested in a letter by the employee to the President. Each request is reviewed on a “case-by-case” basis. Employees actively pursuing advanced degrees not relevant to their current position prior to July 1, 1998 will be eligible to receive a pay increase at the established rate of 3%. Employees with intermittent work toward an advanced degree prior to July 1, 1998 will receive the established 3% pay increase if the degree is awarded by June30, 1999.
    4. Application for and notification of an anticipated degree award is the responsibility of the employee. An Employee Change of Status Form must be submitted to Human Resources by April 15th within the fiscal year of degree receipt (July 1-June 30). Eligible salary adjustments will become effective July 1, subject to the receipt of the official transcript.
