Holidays
06:61:00 Holidays

  1. The College observes a maximum of eight holidays per year and five additional administrative closing days with pay to be designated by the President and approved by the Chancellor. All regular full-time and part-time employees in an active pay status qualify for holiday pay for these days. Regular part-time employees receive the holiday benefit on a pro rata basis. Additional administrative closing days may be designated by the President with approval of the Chancellor. If additional administrative closing days are declared beyond the five paid administrative closing days, appropriate leave will be charged to the employee. Any employee who does not have sufficient accumulated leave will be on leave-without-pay for those additional days.
  2. The following days shall be designated as holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. When a recognized holiday falls on Saturday, the Friday preceding the holiday shall be substituted. When it falls on Sunday, the Monday following the holiday shall be substituted.
  3. At times, it may be necessary for the President to declare specific hours as emergency closing as the result of inclement weather or other emergency situations. In such cases, regular full-time and part-time employees on the active payroll who are scheduled to work during the declared times of closing will be granted time off from work with pay.
  4. For detailed information on holidays and administrative closing days, see TBR Policy Nos. 5:01:01:10 and TBR Policy No. 5:01:01:11.
