The goal of the Paralegal Studies certificate program is to provide students who have earned a 4-year degree (B.A. or B.S.) with specific education on substantive legal and ethical principles which prepares them for paralegal positions working under the supervision of an attorney in the private or public sector. Upon completion of the Paralegal Program the student will: locate sources of law, using both printed and online resources; use and understand legal terminology; demonstrate knowledge of court system structures and policies; demonstrate proficiency in legal software; prepare legal documents and forms; draft cover letters, briefs and memos; conduct client and witness interviews, apply ethics in a legal environment; and apply communication skills in a legal setting.
