The goal of the Paralegal Studies degree program is to provide students with a general education with emphasis on substantive legal and ethical principles which prepare them for paralegal positions working under the supervision of an attorney in the private or public sector. This program is also the basis for the first two years of a baccalaureate program in Legal Assisting through Chattanooga State’s 2+2 articulation agreement with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. “This program of study is designed as a terminal degree for a specific career field. The associated courses are not designed to transfer to a four-year institution.  However, this program of study will transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Legal Assisting program.”

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate (Paralegal Studies Technical Certificate)

The goal of the Paralegal Studies certificate program is to provide students who have earned a 4-year degree (B.A. or B. S.) with specific education on substantive legal and ethical principles which prepares them for paralegal positions working under the supervision of an attorney in the private or public sector.

“The associated courses are not designed to transfer to a four-year institution.  However, this program of study will transfer to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Legal Assisting program.”
