07:01:00 COURSE FEES AND REFUNDS

  1. The purpose of this policy is to provide information regarding the procedures involved in the establishment of workforce development program fees and refunds.

  1. Fees for Workforce Development Courses
    1. Workforce Development program fees are established and assessed by the Division of Economic and Workforce Development in accordance with TBR Guideline B-060 and do not require TBR approval. Fees are published on class pages on the Economic and Workforce Development web site.
    2. Students enrolled as workforce development students are assessed the published course or workshop fee only. In some cases, the materials/textbook fee is included in the program fee. In those instances, that information is included in the online course description.
    3. There is no provision for the use of State, TBR, or UT fee waivers or fee discounts associated with enrollment in workforce programs.

  1. Service Fees
    1. A service fee is assessed for the processing of the registration of students enrolled in workforce programs offered by external agencies that have been approved by the Division of Economic and Workforce Development.
    2. A service fee is assessed for the processing of an original and for a duplicate Certificate of Completion requested by a student. Certificates of Completion are issued only to students who successfully completed a workforce development course or workshop.
    3. The Returned Check Fee applies to students enrolled in workforce programs.
    4. There is no fee assessed for a transcript of record.

  1. General Refund Policy

    1. The following refund policy applies to all classes, with the exception of Motorcycle classes, offered through Chattanooga State’s Economic & Workforce Development division.

      1. To cancel a registration and receive a 100% refund, please notify the Economic & Workforce Development division at least 48 hours prior to the beginning of the first class. To cancel, please call (423) 697-3100 or email ewd@chattanoogastate.edu

      2. To cancel a registration and receive a 75% refund, please notify the Economic & Workforce Development division before the beginning of the second class session. Regardless of whether or not an individual attended the first class, only a 75% refund will be provided after the conclusion of the first class and prior to the beginning of the second class session.

      3. No refunds, regardless of attendance, will be awarded after the second class. A full refund is provided for classes which are canceled by Chattanooga State.

      4. For refund policies for Motorcycle classes, please refer to the Motorcycle Rider Education Program Application/Student Registration form or see item #2 below.

    2. The following refund policy applies to all Motorcycle classes offered through Chattanooga State’s Economic & Workforce Development division.

      1. The registration fee is refundable as long as the student notifies Chattanooga State fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the class.  Students who are deemed to be unsafe to themselves or to others during the course may be asked to leave the class prior to completion with no refund issued.

    3. Exceptions to the Refund Policy may apply to specific Economic & Workforce Development Courses and/or classes in the event that course vendors impose non-refundable fees or the division incurs non-refundable class material expenses.  Those exceptions will be described clearly on the Online Course or Class Description.

    4. Specific exceptions to the Refund Policy may be granted if approved by the Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development.
